What are Standards Compliance?

Standards compliances are rules for web design created by web design organizations. Before there were Standards Compliance organizations there was an Internet controlled by Microsoft. That wouldn't have been a problem if what they were pushing made sense, but the Internet community had many issues with Microsoft's approach. The W3C is one such organization. Standards Compliance's suggestions began molding the world of Internet development into a coherent idea. While standards compliance may not be an issue for the non-programmer it is the test of a good programmer.
